Established in 1963, Análise Social is published quarterly by the Institute of Social Sciences (ICS) of the University of Lisbon and is the oldest multidisciplinary Social Sciences journal in Portugal. It publishes original empirical and theoretical articles that develop qualitative or quantitative approaches and contribute novel reflections to the field of Social Sciences. By piecing together different disciplines, methodologies, and approaches, Análise Social accepts contributions from (but is not limited to) the areas of Sociology • Political Science • History • Anthropology • Social Psychology • Geography.
Mission & Goals
Since its foundation, Análise Social remained a reference in comparative and historical studies on Portugal and Portuguese-speaking countries while promoting dialogue between national and international scholarship. Yet, the journal is not limited to these fields of the Social Sciences. Análise Social is theoretically and methodologically open and attentive to multiple geographical contexts. It publishes articles, essays, and reviews of that are of interest to the general public of the Social Sciences.

Content
Análise Social publishes various types of articles, bibliographical and methodological essays, book reviews, interviews, and obituaries (see Submission Guidelines). There are also Special Issues on focused themes dedicated to selected areas of interest. The call for themed-issue submissions is always open.
Análise Social is indexed in several databases and has a rigorous peer review system. All of the journal’s content is available to the public free of charge. It adheres to the ethical principles of publication based on the Code of Conduct and Standards of Good Practice for Journal Editors of the Committee on Publication Ethics – COPE (available at http://publicationethics.org/).
